This program differs from the short treatment program to reduce the intensity of smoking in that it does not lead to a lower level of nicotine in the blood that remains in the patient's usual level. Basic principles of the program: 1. The patient tries to gum and inhaler, and selects a drug, which it will use in the future. Possible combination of drugs. 2. To start the program better than recommend the use of a specific time interval for non-use of cigarettes. For example, a patient chooses not to smoke at work or at home. Possible alternation of cigarette smoking and use of IPM. 3. Just as during long-term treatment program is recommended to use chewing gum 2 or 4 mg, depending on the degree of nicotine dependence. 4. Despite receiving NSP, during the day the patient should smoke cigarettes as much as he needs to feel complete comfort. 5. The physician should always warn patients about the dangers of overdose of nicotine in the case of simultaneous or near simultaneous use of CPOs and cigarettes. This may occur due to the fact that the nicotine from the oral cavity into the blood when receiving IPV is much slower than through the lungs from cigarette smoke. 6. The patient should independently regulate NSP reception and smoking cigarettes, trying to reduce the number of daily cigarettes smoked. At each visit, the physician should maintain the patient's decision to reduce the intensity of smoking and convince him of the need for more intensive treatment of smoking, using the arguments described in Section 3.1. 5.
